Thinking About Jesus...

Vindication does come in Mark's gospel, but in the tradition of an empty tomb. Women go to the tomb and a man is waiting for them. Instead of speading spices, they are to tell the men, disciples of Jesus too, that Jesus will meet them in Galilee. That's the place where it all began. It will be a beginning or better a continuation of Jesus' ministry, but now through the disciples. The story of Jesus is unfinished until. We aren't told the story of the meeting in Galilee, only the fear of women.

But this isn't about gender, it's about fear to do things elsewhere. It's the fear of leaving safety, it's the fear of meaningful conversations about Jesus and his relevance.

Maybe Mark's story is unfinished because the reader must finish the story begun with Jesus. Until he meets us again, he has already gone ahead and awaits us as we pursue the active adventure of faith, helping others decide for Jesus.
